ABOUT ME!

My name is Hiba Yacoub, and I am a university student in my final year of an interdisciplinary Arts and Science undergraduate degree. I am pursuing a major concentration in Visual Arts with a minor in Biology.
I am particularly passionate about the intersection of biology and art, as it allows me to engage with and appreciate the best of both worlds: the natural world (biology) and the creative/expressive world (art).
My experience in Dr. Jennifer Willet’s Bioart course provided me with valuable insight into how these disciplines inform and enhance one another.
Through hands-on assignments, I was able to explore the relationship between biological processes and artistic practice in innovative and meaningful ways.
With this experience in mind, I developed a deeper understanding of how biological processes can inform and shape artistic practice.
This foundation directly influenced the development of my research project, where I explore bioart through the creation of paint pigments derived from natural and organic materials and their use in producing original artworks.
