Reviewing My Experience Of Paint Making

Successes

I find that a sorce of success in this project was creating the watercolor egg tempera paint palette along with the production of the paintings. A major factor in this accomplishment is attributed to the extensive research process, this served as a guiding force throughout the entire capstone class. This is because it provided me with the opportunity to get a deep understanding of the painting world and allowed me to identify the most effective recipes for the paint-making process. With this knowledge I have gained from my experience with this capstone class, I feel as if I embarked an a creative journey that allowed me to expand my thinking when it comes to the intersection of art and biology.

The research was not only enlightening but also enjoyable, as it enabled me to broaden my understanding of the intricate world of painting. In addition, it served as a platform for me to experiment with the creation of sustainable, organic paints sourced from natural materials. It gave me the chance to think critically and problem solve my way out of obstacles. In sum, this first half of the capstone course was an incredible learning experience that added depth to my knowledge and problem solving skills but has also increased my passion for the field of art.

Challenges

Challenges when it comes down to this research is an understatement. I encountered numerous obstacles throughout the process, during the research phase where I grappled with finding reliable sources of information and determining the most relevant topics to cover. In particular the paint-making process proved to be the hardest challenge of all, requiring multiple attempts to alter the formulation of the pigments, many failed attempts at dehydrating, and color matching. Despite these challenges, I problem-solved my way through each problem.

As I reflect on the project, I recognize that I need to make a few adjustments to enhance the future paint-making, particularly in addressing the graininess of the pigments. Nevertheless, I am quite satisfied in what I have accomplished so far in this capstone research class. I am proud of the challenges because they help me to learn from my mistakes and make improvements for the future.
